Summer is upon us! Memphis is quite good at making one want summer to be over before it even officially begins. IT. IS. HOT. But one thing that summer brings is (usually) a bit more free time – which, on this blog, translates to more reading time. 😀
These are the books I plan(ned) to read this month, but I’ve already started others that were unplanned (Although, those are usually the best hehe):
I have a few “guidelines” I use when starting to pick my next books. Now that I am done with school, I want to start reading more non-fiction books – I always used homework as an excuse to only read “fun” books. Hehe. Although, non-fiction can be quite fun as well! So, I pick 1 non-fiction book, 1 children’s book, and I think I am also going to start re-reading a Narnia or Harry Potter book (or 2 or 3) each month. Then I just fill in the rest with books from my never ending “to be read” pile. o.O
The Wild Robot – Peter Brown
This was a graduation gift from my dear friend, Claire! I had my eye on The Wild Robot for a while and she didn’t even know it. We’re so in sync. 😛 This is my children’s book pick for the month and I am very excited to start reading it!
The Dream Thieves – Maggie Stiefvater
This is the second book of The Raven Cycle series. It took quite a bit for me to really get into it, but at about 50% of the way through I’m finally really liking it! The first book, The Raven Boys, was really great (it was one of my reads from last month) and this book is starting to live up to it!
A Darker Shade of Magic – V.E. Schwab
I really don’t know all that much about this book. I’ve heard that it’s amazing… and that’s kind of all. My book club is reading it and I’m quite excited to start it!
Walking on Water – Madeleine L’Engle
This is my non-fiction pick for the month! It is about art and the Christian faith (2 very wonderful things). And it is written by Queen L’Engle herself. ❤
I’ve also started reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe ^^
WOOO! LET’S GO JUNE!
